Artist Bio

Born and raised in Shawinigan, Quebec Linda moved to Aylmer, Quebec
with her family
as a teenager. Both
her parents are very artistically inclined people and
Linda had been
introduced to different crafts at a very young age. Her mother has always been an
artist
and has worked with ceramics, oil paintings, etc. Her father has worked
with wood
throughout his life and Linda recalls having a swing right in her father's workshop.
Her father
created many furniture pieces and beautiful bird houses including a replica of his
childhood
home in Caraquet, New Brunswick. Most recently he has created for Linda the beautiful stands
with
which she displays her jewelry.
Linda's interest in jewelry making began at a very young age when she played with
her
mothers jewelry. As a child she was making bead jewelry and macrame which she sold
to
friends and family. When Linda met her husband, whose passion is woodworking,
she
soon
discovered another world of interest in working with wood. Linda has since
learned
about
the
different type of domestic and exotic woods which she uses in her jewelry pieces.
Together, Linda and her husband have visited many craft shows and galleries to gain
insight into
this
wonderful craft. At one such show, Linda met a local goldsmith who also
taught
courses
in jewelry making. Linda has since taken some of these courses and in the
process
has learned
about working with metal, stone, wood and to develop techniques in
combining these
materials.
Linda's other interests include downhill skiing, reading, hiking and bird watching
right on
her
property. She has an intense love of
nature and uses many of the organic forms in
nature
as inspiration in the creation of her jewelry pieces.
